One reason the British extended Quebec control into the Ohio Valley, southward as far as present day Tennessee, was its better relations with the native First Nations. The French had proved themselves much more adept in fostering a collaborative relationship than had the British settlers of the 13 colonies. Britain wanted peace with the First Nations, after its continuing struggles following the Seven Years War.

Thanks for the short, but informative video. I was hoping to learn more though, but I guess this is mostly basic info. I'll subscribe anyway, any quality history channels on RUclips deserve more attention. I'm obsessed about British history, even more so then my own Norwegian history, that probably is more colorful at times, but sadly lack written sources, like for example the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles.

Not bringing up the fact that we live under a US Global Empire, Israel sabotaging anything good. Of course we often refer to the fact that the middle east has plenty of oil, which the petrodollar is entirely reliant on. Would make this conversation a lot more honest. And Syria's civil war is being driven by largely US/Israel/Corporate entitites, makes Bashar al-Assad's dictatorship a lot more reasonable. Especially in regards to the genocide ongoing within Gaza, perpertrated by the Israeli IDF, and financed by the US Taxpayer. I cannot take Western biased commentary on the middle east seriously.

This is full of misrepresentation. The Courts make the Law of the Land, they check the legality of the legislative law. We have the common law, statute, customs, and common law being the law of the land. The UK Constitution tells us we should not have joined, hence all the problems now. Parliament is not a sovereign lawmaker. Dicy misquoted he even admits Parliament is not sovereign. The Bill of Rights is the contract and limits legislation making. Parliamentary sovereignty does not stand up to scrutiny logic history or reason. Handing power to any foreign power is unlawful. It's very annoying listening to these people, who are very intelligent but been taught a polluted education on the constitution.

You do not mention the real humanitarian side of his character. He apparently stood shoulder to shoulder with the firefighters during the great Fire of London, helping and encouraging as best he could, and his close involvement with the reconstruction was not just for his own gratification. Meanwhile, Samuel Pepys sat on the sidelines, as far away from the fire as possible, and wrote about it!

Charles was a good Christian, and, by the grace of God, carried out his duties as King to protect the liberties of the People. It can be argued that the Stuarts are the last legitimate dynasty of Scotland, England, and Ireland. A strong case can be made that the constituent nations of the UK would be more united today if the descendants of Charles were still Sovereign.

(Irish & EU citizen) - This is a good account of the GoI Act 1920 and the creation of the border. However, you need to look beyond the "British view of history" to understand the legacy of violence and why such borders were so damaging for the future. The majority of people living in Ireland had and never accepted the the rule of the British Empire in Ireland. Despite a minority of people in Ireland not wanting Home Rule, the minority had the backing of London & Empire. This empire thinking of divide and conguer is a British Empire strategy that affected Aden, India, Malaysia, Palestine and many of the former countries controlled by the British Empire. The legacy of violence of this policy lives with us up to the present time and has created continued wars in the Middle East and around the world. I would refer to excellent studies in Malaysia and the USA on this "Legacy of Violence". With regards to the current Ireland and the peace process, people on the island now have the opportunity to learn to live together and build a better future. PS similar notations could be said for all the European empires; France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria. Spain, Portugal etc That is why the EU is so important for the younger generation to build a Europe of countries that are at peace with each other but remain independent.

00.22 "Was Lenin a hero? He freed the Russian people from centuries of oppression by the Russian Tsars..." NO HE DIDN'T! There had already been a revolution in Feb 1917 that overthrew the Tsar and ushered in a provisional government that wanted to move towards democracy. Lenin played no part in that because he was living in Switzerland at the time. Lenin organised the Oct 1917 revolution that overthrew this provisional government. I'm amazed a history professor doesn't know this.

What he fighted for? Disunity of church and religious zealotry. Law and order that he broke and ruined? State that he pushed into civil war? Kingdom he unlawfully depeived of a king? What good he did? Fought for pairlament that he stuffed with his supported and finally disolved because it was useless, and make himself a king in an image of octavian but without support of public. British Sulla but worse. Because Sulla's legacy lead into reforms of roman state into roman empire and cromwellian were just lost years.
